Modem

My daughter has a Compaq Presario - 5000 I think, it has like 866 mhz. It kept freezing up all the time and she had a lot of stuff downloaded on it, so we ran the compaq quick restore cd's and it cleared up her computer good but won't reconnect to the internet because the modem won't respond. The computer is about 2 1/2 years old and it won't detect it's own modem and I've tried inserting all the one's on the built in list. Please help, I'm no computer wizzard.

Adams try reinstall the driver by right click mycomputer and click properties click hardware then device manager you see for moden and right click it and click properties and you update or reinstall.
