I have Windows XP Professional SP1 installed and certain programs won't work like they once did and system restore doesn't seem to help. e.g. the embedded player won't work at www.calvaryradio.com. It used to work and it currently works on my Windows 98 laptop, also running MSIE 6.
I've tried system restore but it doesn't help and MSIE 6 won't reinstall. Also the automatic Windows Updates won't stick. They keep reinstalling every time I restart the computer so I had to turn off the "auto updates" feature.
I think I need to repair the Windows XP system from the Operating System Reinstallation disk, but I don't know if there is a way to do it so I will not have to reinstall all of my software and loose any of my data.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

You can use the windows XP installtion disk and reinstall the system files without formating the hard disk All it will do it replace the system files and not delete any of existing files Then retry autoupdate and it should reinstall
