Hello,

All of a sudden after my computer has been on for a while a constant whinning alarm goes off and the green cpu light starts to blink. If I'm running media player the music begins to skip and sputter and the application is slow to close. After a minute or two it stops. I first thought the noise was the harddrive or the cd-rom but I opened my case and disconnected the speaker and the noise stopped however the cpu light continued to blink, so what was wrong was still going on just w/o the audible alarm. My power supply outputs 250 watts.

By the way you describe it might be a virus that you could have in your computer that couls be what it is acting up this way You can try running an anti-virus software if you have any available to check it out If you don't then you may want to delete any files that you have downloaded recently before the whole problem occured and last but last thing you can do is format, reboot and restore your computer this should work.
