I am on my second new desktop computer from Sony (model PCV-RZ22G) in two days. The problem is this, when the comp restarts I get a white/colored vertical line down the center of the monitor and thats all it will do. If I restart the comp again, I get the usual Windows XP starting screen and as soon as it is finished with the boot up sequence, the vertical white line appears momentarily and the screen goes black.

Its either a bad monitor or video card!

First replace with a known good old monitor.

If that old monitor doesn't resolve the problem.

You have a bad video card Return PC to manufacturer

Hopefully both the monitor and PC are still under warrenty, for free replacement
