I have a custom built AMD Athlon XP 1800+ PC, running under Windows XP. For some reason, when I turn on the PC, it boots up without any problems, but inevitably, a few minutes into doing anything on it, it will just turn off without any notice. I did have problems in the past w/ processor overheating, because the fan was not functioning, but I purchased a new, more powerful fan and the system has been running fine for about a year. I made sure that the fans were functioning. I also had to return a faulty video card, but got a new one and replaced it and it has been running fine ever since. Any help as to the possible cause of the abrupt powering-off of my system would be appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. I have recently moved out of a college dorm and had to transport the pc. It is possible that it may have been bumped around, and jarred.

I had the same problem and what I did was replace the power supply How it happenned was that my fan in the power supply was dirty and it kept building up My system kept shuting down and when I replace the power supply it didn't happen anymore.
