using my computer my monitor went off and i rebooted and it was alright. this happened several times but one day it did not and all i get on the screen is 'no signal input'. i have checked all cards and hard drive in another computer and all work. so i have narrowed it to either the cpu or motherboard. my question before i spend any money is, which could it be, cpu or mb? also i have tried an old mb and cpu but they didn't work either. so i ended up borrowing another mb and cpu and everything works. could it be that my older cpu and/or mb be bad too? thanx, gordon

If you monitor is shutting off but when it is on everything is runs fine then the problem could be the video card Try your same mother board the your friends' monitor and see it the same problem occurs If the does switch the video card and try it again If the problem still occur then it could be the motherboard
