Why i can't boot from the harddrive

I am able to get into the bios. I canot make any changes. Why doesn't it let me make changes?

I switched it to boot from the cdrom from the hd and i reinstalled windows xp pro and now it willnot let me switch back to boot from hd.

Can you please help?

You can't boot from the hard drive because you did not configure the jumpers right Put the hard drive as the master and the rest of parts as cable so the computer will have to boot from the hard drive.
