I am trying to fix my moms computer. Electricity blinked several days ago and now it won't boot, just gives an error message of Unmountable boot volume. SHe recently moved, and she either never had a system restore CD or she has lost it, but we don't have one. I tried downloading a boot disk for Windows Xp, but I am still getting an error, looking for a file it can't find. HELP please!!

If the recovery console can be used then the command chkdsk /f should be able to run from there Or type "fixboot" in the console Failing that you will need to run a windows XP repair
