Freezes and slowdowns

Why are my applications slowing down? When I start something like Roxio Easy CD Creator or try Defragging my drive the application will freeze. Task Manager say "not responding" then for 5 - 10 seconds the app will start running, then freeze for 30 - 40 seconds. An analysis of my drive for a defrag took over 3 hours.

I've got a 8gig HD with 1.6gig FREE. At 320MB, RAM is not the problem. I've got a P3 550mhz processor and this problem happens with only the one application running. I've run "The Cleaner" form moosoft Developments??? and removed 5 trojans and have regular downloads from nortan's AV so viruses are not the problem.

Your biggest reason why the computer is slowing down when you are runnin that program is because of your processor for most cd burning or writing software you need just about 1.0ghz so it could funtion correctly The best thing you can do for the moment is try to slow down the speed of when your gonna burn your cd but I would suggest is upgrading your processor.
