I am attempting to upgrade my memory resources on a

Dell Dimension 8100. I currently have 128 of RIMM. What memory upgrades are compatible? I have noticed that some are identified as 184 pin and 232 pin. Which one should I choose? Is there that much difference in the 880mhz and faster chips? Also, what does "non-ecc" mean and how does it figure into purchasing additional memory for my system?

Well first read the documentaion that came with your PC, it will tell you what kind of RAM to install If your comfortable opening the case than you can check the sticker on the RAM chip itself, it will say something like PC100 of SD 133, (these are just examples, they may not be on your chip) Non-ecc means non error correcting code which means it will not check for accuracy of data as it passes in and out of memory Like I said make sure you read the documentation and buy the corrct RAM, because if you don't and just install anything your system will not run at all Your machine may or may not support ecc so make sure before purchasing RAM.
