At some point, my new installation of Windows XP (Home) developed a problem. If I want to

"Turn Off', "Restart", or "Standby" the computer through to "Turn Off Computer" window,

I must go through the process of selecting the buttons twice. After the first selection, nothing

happens, and the machine sits idle while I gaze at my desktop. If I select the same button

again, the process completes correctly with no problem. There doesn't appear to be

anything else wrong with the system. My guess is that some installed application caused the

problem - who knows which one. Any ideas?

You can always try reinstalling the win xp program that can probably be the solution to make sure that all the drives and applcation got installed on your computer Or you can always go to the system restore and try restoring the files from there one or the other should work.
