How can I pick what is on my system tray

When I first installed VistaScan, it automatically added an icon to the taskbar at the bottom, along with the time, Task Scheduler, Compuserve, Norton Antivirus, and volume control. When I installed a new program, it said to close everything. After installation and rebooting, everything came back up in the taskbar except VistaScan.

I have tried to add it back in, but there is no help topic that relates to adding a program to that portion of the taskbar. I was able to add it into Quick Launch, but then I have to activate all of Quick Launch. I do not wish to do this, since I don't use any of the items in Quick Launch. And even though I could open VistaScan from QuickLaunch, it didn't give me the option to turn off the hardware as it did when it was in the other portion of the task bar. So the scan light is on all the time as long as the scanner is plugged in. We need to be able to turn it off.

A long time ago, a fellow employee told me to type in to 'Run' something that got me to where I could add or delete items from the right hand portion of the taskbar. Could you tell me what that is, because I no longer have contact with him.

Thank you very much.

The right hand portion of the taskbar is called the 'System Tray'.

Click on START then select run and then type 'msconfig' This will get you where you want to go.

Good Luck!Hope I was helpful.
