How to copy to your clipboard

i used to be able to copy to my clipboard from explorer or outlook express and paste into wordpad.

after i had to reboot my system from the CD, i can no longer paste to wordpad from anything as long as my modem is running.

is there a setting i need to fix or something simple i can try? this is a real annoyance!

In (wordpad / edit / paste special) you have some choices of text formating perhaps the settings here were changed by mistake.
