Why won't my laptop start, it says invalid partition table?

My laptop will not start it is a old one but it still works my question is why wont my computer start it says Invalid prtition table please e-mail and tell me what to do

Did anyone try to install a new Operating system The partition table is created when a operating system is being installed on a hard drive, if you have an invalid one, maybe someone accidently deleted it If that is the case you will have to reinstall the OS.
