Why does my computer freeze up?

Firstly, my computer will freeze and I am obliged to do "Control Alt Delete" or minimize my browser and open a new one to unfreeze my pc when I am either on the internet, on outlook express or when searching in My Computer. I have checked the other answered questions on the site and have seen to it relating to having to get more RAM. My second problem is that I am getting a script error on explorer that pops up every 10 minutes. WHAT is wrong with my computer!!!! HELPPPP! Thank you for your time.

P.S. I have 256mb of ram, 1.4 gh processor, 40gig hard drive, dsl

You may have a virus, you should do a scan on your computer to see if you have any on there.
