My 3 1/2" drive will not read data on a disk that was started on another computer.

when i insert a disk that is from a diffrent computer, mine does not even recoginise that it is even formated. This problem may have been here since I bought my computer 2 years a go.

I never needed disks from others till recently. Help ! Now this is becoming a problem for both

my kids, with school, and myself, with work.

My system is a HP9870 with just a RAM upgrade

The drive may be out of alignment The other drive may have a different alignment Try several disks, and note if the drive only reads those disks that it has recently formatted If so, you probably will want to replace the drive.
