Why can't I surf the net?

I would like to try surfing once more .Everytime I go to a site .I cannot click on to a link,html ,or anything .It opens up ,but with a traansparent explorer box as though it's trying to surf ,but it just sits there without showing me nothing? Please tell me how i can fix this problem.Even from step one..I'm a dummie at computers .but i can read a how to and fix this problem if you would please help.I have updated my internet exploer..defraged,updated java ,did scandisk ,cleaned my cookies ,and emptied my temp internet folder,and I just want to surf again ..Help.....thanks .......

I think you have a corrupt IE file that you need to repair do the following steps and it should work.

1 Go to the Control Panel

2 Open up Add/Remove Programs

3 Select Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools

4 Click the Add/Remove button

5 Check Repair Internet Explorer

6 Click on the OK button
