I have tried to do a scandisk and cannot. I get the message "Scandisk cannot continue because a program such as a disk utility has locked this drive. Close program or wait for it to finish." I do not have anything running that I am aware of when I try to do scandisk. I close everything down including antivirus, screen saver, etc.

I am in the process of switching from McAfee antivirus to Norton Internet Security and before installing it wants a full scan done first. I rebooted the computer with their CD in the drive as directed and tried the scan and still cannot run it.

I am totally at a loss at this point and don't know where to turn. It was suggested to download Spyware, which I did. I ran it and there some Spyware components were found. I followed the instructions then it was indicated I couldn't clear them up until I actually bought the Spyware program. I tried to go back to their site and got a screen site not found.

Help.

Try to scandisk from your dos with your win98 startup disk You can troubleshoot from the startup disk you created from win98.
