Whenever i try to open a (any) program

Whenever i try to open a program (any) i get the message "Explorer has performed an illegal operation and will now close" Why is my computer doing this? PLEASE HELP!

This problem can occur if the value of the Personal value in the following registry key does not have the path to the My Documents folder or is blank:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

most likely you may have to reinstall the OS
