Why does my computer keep beeping and not boot up?

im trying to set up this computer 4 the kids. its n old tower. i had everying almost set than i dnt know what went wrong! when i push the on button it beeps than seens to go into some kind of loop. it seens not to even go into the bios, but im not sure!than it just keeps beeping over and over. dont khow what to do! any advice will help

The beeps you are hearing are called POST beeps They are signals kind of like mores code to tell you something is wrong Count the number of beeps and their pattern, for example one long three short If you have the paperwork that came with the PC it should give you a chart if not you will probably have to bring it in to some one to find out.
