I bought a cannon digital camera. When I first started transferring pictures to my computer from the camera, they were being sent as JPEG files. For whatever reason, now they are being sent from the camera to the computer as JPG files and when I open them there is no picture. I have to rename the extension files to JPEG from JPG and then go back again to give my pictures whatever I decide to name them, sample: Me and my dog.jpeg. First, why do I now have to change the extension on my computer when my camera is set to take JPEG picture? Second, how did this change take place without my input and is there anything I can do to correct this problem. I spend a lot of time just doing all of this changing of extensions and then naming my pictures. Thank you for your time. JoAnn Swanson. 6/16/03.

A default might have been switched, you should go to properties and see if you can change the setting so that the default will be jpeg.
