Fire?

i have tried installing a fire wire,when i shut down my computer it immediately boots up again ,i take out the firewire ,computer then returns to normal?why is this,my son is pressurising so he can get on with his a level course work.we upgrade to this computer for thi project,it worked fine in our old computer.

If your computer is running Windows XP then your computer won't pick it up at all or just plain out accept it Most fire wires arent compatible with Windows Xp so i suggest that you don't install it at all.
