I've been experiencing slow boot up and programs load up way too slow. It takes 3mi+ to boot up my windows XP and when i open internet explorer or close it, it locks up my computer and waits for it to either close or open. My computer isnt slow or anything. I have an AMD XP 1700+, 256 DDR Ram, Abit KR7A motherboard. I reformatted but the problem is still persisting. I tried everything to fix this. Usually reformatting would clear any unnecessary programs that run in the background but it hasn't. Also, the computer randomly doesnt detect my HD and

CD-Rom. I don't know why. Please help me fix this problem.

There can be that your computer was infected by a virus, or that you are running low on memory, check how much memory you have and do a scan for viruses.

You can check how much memory that is being used by clicking CTRL ALT DELETE then click on the performances tab.
