Dealing with downloads

Ok my computer has this problem where everything i download on my computer then when I shut down my computer all my downloads are gone and I cant keep them on my computer what can I do to stop this please help me.

When you are receiveing the option of downloading the software make sure you have chosen the save option so you can save the downloaded program on your computer because if you just click the open option you will be able to use the program but not save it i also suggest to save a copy of the download on a floppy disk, CD, or zip disk.
