When I turn on my computer, everything sounds ok... hard drive noises, all the fans work, but nothing comes up. My monitor acts like the computer is in sleep mode.
About 1 out of 20 times the computer will work and it sends me to the BIOS where it says, "During the last boot up your system hung for an improper CPU speed setting. Your system is now working in safe mode. To optimize the system performance ad reliability, make sure the CPU speed conforms to the specifications of your CPU."
The thing is the BIOS CPU speed setting is right... I have an Athlon 1800+/ 1.53GHz and the setting is at 1.53
I've had my computer for over a year and NOW it is just starting to do this. I do not know what is the matter.
Is the CPU screwed up? Or what is wrong???
Please help!!!!!
Thanks

I had the same problem and for a long time I didn't know what to do What I found out was that I didn't have enough fans to cool off the system I lowered the speed of cpu and now my system is running fine.
