I have purchased a micron laptop with xp and want to know how to convert my works 4.5 files to word in the laptop without losing data.

You will need to change the file extension of the document in order to open it up in Microsoft Word Microsoft Works uses the file extension .wps while Word uses .doc Simply rename the file and make sure to eliminate the extension .wps and replace it with .doc For future reference, if you know that you will be using the document in word, after clicking Save As simply save it has a .doc by clicking on the down arrow located near the Save as Type text box Good Luck!!
