WHat is wrong with my mouse?

Often, when keying in an email msg, spreadsheet, etc., the pointer jumps to ??? and continued keying goes into another field, replacing what was there! Have found that in SOME cases, the Alt. keys are printed when trying to use the SHIFT key to type in cap. letters (e.g, instead of U, it types a 4!). What could be causing this? I'M NIT EVEN TOUCHING THE MOUSE PAD OR BUTTONS!!

There could be a glicked in you mouse, try control panel Go to the mouse controls and see if anything is switched to a different setting,you should also go to the device manger to see if theres a problem with the mouse

(right click my computer,click properties,click hardware tab, click on device manager)

from here you should see if there's a problem with your mouse it should have a yellow exclamation point next to the device that's having trouble.
