I formatted my hard drive and am trying to install Windows 98. I boot from a Windows 98 boot disk and can access both the "c" hard drive and "d" cd-rom. When I try to load my Windows 98 cd I get an error that says invalid media. The same error comes up what ever disk I put in the cd-rom drive. Another error message came up that said I may have to load DOS 6.2 if my cd-rom doesn't read data. What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks,

Bill

format the partition with the command format c:/s to reload the basic system files for dos.

one of the basic startup files could be missing or perhaps hidden in that case you would have to extract command.com from the cabinet files.
