I must have deleted my system restore when I used the mcAfee uninstaller and I must have also deleted a bunch of archived cab records, not to mention some registry records. I tried to put some of the registry backup back into the registry( I saved some in my documents) First I tried to normally use the system restore from the program files but I got the message restart your computer before the Sys. Rest. will work- no dice. I then went into your suggestion about msconfig and then launch system restore. I got the following message:

"Unable to synchronize the environment variables in the Windows registry with the environmental variables in legacy files autoexec.bat and/or configuration system."

What do I do?
