What is System restore disk

my computer was FINE, all of a sudden it froze up and wouldnt shut off....... had to unplug it

now it WONT load up after you have to click your name to sign on, it wont load up anything more....... stuck on the sign in window on xp..... tried it 3 times..

omg what is wrong........

cry.......
