How do I make my task bar and icons on the bar smaller?

You can do this a number of ways.

First you can change your screen resolution to something like 1024 x 768 which makes things a bit smaller including icons and taskbar..

To accomplish this you can right mouse click on your desktop, go to properties, settings tab, then where it says "Screen Area" drag the bar to the right until you hit 1024 x 768 Hit apply then a message will pop up asking if you would like to keep the current resolution setting. If you like it click yes. and then click okay.

Another way if you want to keep your resolution at 800 x 600 or some other resolution you can simply right mouse click on your desktop, go to properties, then the appearence tab, under Items click the drop down list and scroll down until you see Icons. click it and then proceed to change to your desirable size. You can also do this for window sizes change fonts. color. schemes and anything else you can basically think of to customize the look of windows.
