Well this depends.

Some people confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger Windows messenger transmits net send and Alerter service messages between clients and servers This service is not related to Windows Messenger If this service is stopped, Alerter messages will not be transmitted If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start While MSN Messenger is like a AIM chat client.

If you want to uninstall Windows messenger you can't .. It is a service that comes with windows All you can do is disable that service Since you have Windows XP you would go to start / control panel / administrative tools / services / then scroll down to Messenger Double click on it, under startup type in the drop down box select Disable Hit apply then Ok If you see the service as started hit stop. then your done it shall no long load on startup.

If you want to uninstall Windows MSN Messenger.

Go to control panel and then click on Add or Remove Programs On the left tab click Add/Remove Windows Components When the Windows Compenents Wizard pops up scroll all the way down to Windows Messenger and uncheck the box Click next untill finished and thats all to it..

I hope you found this helpful..

Good luck
