so i borrowed a web cam (intel cs430) from a friend................i downloaded the drivers without a problem but i'm missing something i guess since there isn't anywhere where i can use the camera........no desktop icons, etc....so i assume i'm missing the actual software but i'm wondering where i can get it for free...this camera is like 5 years old........do the drivers supply the means by which to actually use the camera????

To get your cam to work to make it easy create a folder in your c drive. download the driver into that folder. next you would need to extract the driver in the folder by doin so you need winzip. when extract in winzip make sure that your path to the driver is correct. ex browser C: programs/newfolder/driver by doin so the driver will be extracted to that folder and now you will be able to install the driver go to contol panel. click addnewhardware and browse for your folder where your driver is in and install.. you will be good from then.
