Why does my computer screen go black and then escape and go back to window last opened?

When I try to start a game to play my computer screen why does it go directly to a black screen and then escapes from the black screen and back to the last window opened or my desktop

Something is affecting the game from being able to load right and stay up, a program could be opened that is corrupting the game or there maybe something wrong with that cd rom, it may be defective, it may start off fine and just power down If that is all OK, you might have a video card compatablity issue Check with the game manufacturer on video requirements, particularily the RAM requirements.
