Why can't I change my monitor from 16 bit color?

My monitor only has 16 bit color. I cannot change the display properties to anything but that. How can recover the high color and 256 color options it had?

It sounds like you do not have the correct video drivers for this monitor Go to Control Panel, Display Icon, Settings tab, Advanced button, Adapter tab, and properties button You should be able to update/upgrade your video drivers from here Also check with the manufacturer's website to check for drivers.
