On your desktop, right-click My Computer, then click properties In System Manager, click on the Hardware tab, then click on Device Manager.

Once in Device Manager, you will see Device Tree, click on the " " sign next to the DVD/CD device icon.

The model of the CD ROM will appear, right-click and click on properties The properties box will appear At the bottom of the properties box, you will see a box labeled "Device Usage".

You want to make sure that the box reads: "Use this device (ENABLE)".

This should unlock you CD ROM.

As for the system, primary, secondary, and floppy disk having exclamation points against them, that might do to the fact the CD ROM was disabled In you CMOS settings, the boot sequence may have begun with the CD ROM and because it was disabled the system issued those exclamation points, so check your CMOS settings.
