Hello,

Here is my problem. I wanted to upgrade my computer from 256mb to 512mb and then add another 40gb hardrive for graphics programs. I had a friend do it and he installed win. 2000. ever since then the computer would freeze periodically. Ctrl-Alt-Delete would not do anything. I had to shut off the power and re boot. So I heard about the problems with Win 2000 and upgraded to windows XP prof. The freezing has been cut in half. I want it to stop totally. Before Win XP it would freeze when using the cd player, internet, graphics programs and word. Now with XP it seems to freeze when scrolling through the internet. Although I have not tried the graphics programs lately. I have defragged my system. I don't think it is a memory problem. Any help you can send my way would be great. thank you

Hello...

My first suggestion if you have not done so already would be to get all of your Windows XP updates and service packs needed Especially the service packs, because they have been known to fix problems with programs and and comp freezes.

One other things is to press Ctrl Alt Del and check out your processes running in the background And you might want to go in to control panel and look at the services started upon boot and disable any you are nto using Sometimes that can be the cause i found out Make sure you only disable things you DONT use and know what they are when clicking on a service you can view a brief description of that service to determine whether or not you need it on.

Well i hope this has helped you..

Good Luck
