i have recently bought a new philips cdrw 2400, so i put it in the computer (sorry im not very technical) and used the supplied cd and installed the driver, it restarted my computer and i went to my computer to find that both cd drives have gone. so i formatted the pc and loaded everything again hopeing that it would work and the drives both came back, so again i tried using the cd supplied to install the driver and again both the drives have disappeared again, and i dont want to reformat the pc so is there a way of recovering the drives??

The problem may not be with your pc or drivers the problem might be coming form the inside of the computer check to see if you have the right IDE cable in the right device there is a master and a slave make sure that the cd player is the master and the cdrw is the slave for that reason your pc might not be reading the drives correctly after that checking reinstall the drivers and every thing should be on track another salution is take out the cd and just leave the cdrw in your pc to see if that may have a different affect on your pc.
