Im asking about a cpu usage problem with my computer. Say for instance i started up windows XP and loaded up into my account. After everything has finished loading up, i press ctrl + alt + delete and see that my cpu usage is already at 10%. I have another computer and whenever i reboot that up and do the same, it reads 0-1%. This is where i picked up the problem, by comparing. Anyway, after playing a computer game on my other computer, the cpu usage will drop back down to 0-1%, but on this computer, it actually increases to about 30-40%. If i were to leave the computer on, doing nothing, the cpu usage would rise to 100%. Ive ask many people what could cause this and they dont have any idea. Most of my other friends computers have cpu usage of 0-4% when doing nothing. What i mean by doing nothing is that not running any programs but that cant be really true as i know programs are always running in the background. But in this case, im reffering to Foreground programs. If you would have any idea what the cause of this cpu usage problem is, please contact me on my email which is [email protected]. thanks a lot.

Sometimes there are programs or processes that are on our machines (sometimes not by choice) that when the computer is suppose to be idle it starts running therefore increasing your CPU usage to 100%, also the speed and memory size will affect this number.
