In my opinion the less clutter on my desktop the happier I am However, many users like to have at least the default icons on their desktops We have the fix for all of the users who want to know where the My Computer, My Network Places, and My Documents icons have gone By default, they are no longer on the desktop If you would prefer to have them back then just follow the instructions below.
Replace Default Desktop Icons:
1 Right-click the desktop
2 Next, Choose Properties
3 On the Desktop tab, click Customize Desktop
4 Check next to any of the icons that you would like to see on your desktop
5 Then click OK
This tip should is for XP only and will allow you to access all those icons that you thought you lost.
