To fix this problem you will need to disable the script debugging option which is located in your internet options Connect to the internet and on the top menu bar click Tools->Internet Options Clicking this will bring up another window, in the new window click on the 'Advanced' tab and make sure that the option for "disabling script debugging" which is located under the browsing section is checked After confirming this click Apply and then OK If this solution does not seem to work then I will be the first one to tell you that IE6 is actually destructive when it comes to running on the Windows 98 operating system It's an issue of compatibility, since IE6 is the latest browser and was not in existence in the days of W98, there are certain features and applications that will not be recognized This is why when you un-installed IE6 everything seemed to run fine I would suggest for you to upgrade your operating system if you wish to run IE6 smoothly on your computer IE6 tends to run more accurately on a more current operating system such as ME or XP Good Luck!!
