I have a Conexant sound, modem, combo card. It is a v90 card. I installed a v.92 card and it is working fine. I did not uninstall the v90 card since it has my sound on it. Now there are some sound issues with some of my media players. There is no sound etc. Can I remove the combo card and replace it with a regular solo sound card? It would go in the same slot right? What inexpensive card would I be looking for and what specs would I need? I don't have surround or anything special other than the two stock speakers my Pavilion came with. Would a better card help my puter sound better? Thanks.

Yes you can remove the combo card and replace it with a regular sound card Yes it will go in the same place Since you only have 2 speakers you can get a basic sound card that won't cost that much A site a recommend is www.newegg.com You can also check the setting in the media players to make sure it is using you primary sound card If you go to the control panel under sounds and devices, click the audio tab and change the default device to the sound card you want to use.
