I can't stay connected to the internet,why?

Let Data Doctors be your personal IT department today

cable modem is working, but I can`t stay connected to internet. Cable company has replaced feed into house i have replaced the modem

i loose connection at random times and for random amounts of time

The only way i can recconect is to reset the modem

Any ideas?

Check network configurations

Click on the Start button Now go to Settings Click on Control Panel Double click on Network There should be 3 items listed in the box that comes up Client for Microsoft networks Dialup Adapter TCP/IP Double click on TCP/IP If a message box pops up with an OK button, click OK There should be a dot in Obtain an IP address automatically Click on the WINS configuration tab Put a dot in disable WINS resolution Click on the DNS configuration tab Put a dot in disable DNS Now click OK Click OK once more The computer will need to restart before the setting will take effect.
