Why does it turn on and off?

why won.t my computer show my desktop when i turn it on it turns on and off. it has been upgraded from windows98 to xp pro.

It might be because you upgraded from 98 to xp pro, you might want to go back and always check if you had enuff memory,or the right kind of processor.
