Internet sharing

again, we need to know how to get online with the compaq after networking it with the gateway computer. the compaq is running win.95, and the gateway is running xp. we have the hardware in and everything. how do we get the secondary one online?

You did not specify if you are using dialup or dsl, but if you are trying to share the internet with the secondary computer using dialup, it will not work dialup does not support internet sharing Internet sharing can be done with a DSLconnection ensure both computers are communicating ping each of the computers to test connectivity both computers can be connected by using a cross over cable or a switch, router etc
