I am getting about 20-30 messeges through the messenger service. All of these are ads to stop these very ads from bothering me. Since it is the very companies that are causing the problem which want to provide the solution, I feel that this is extortion, and I refuse to buy their products. Is there a way to stop these without third-party software? I don't need the meesenger service at all and I have tried to disable it, but they just keep coming. THanks for your help.

Hello,

Have no fear there is a way to disable this service What you want to do is go to control panel, then administrative tools, double click on services After your in the services dialogue box scroll down to 'Messenger'. Double click Messenger and a Messenger dialogue box should appear Once that is up you want to look in the general tab under startup type In the drop down tab you want to change it to disabled This is so when your computer reboots the messenger service will not start Now hit apply then ok and your all done.

I hope this has helped you

Good luck
