What is Mcaffee virus scan

I upgraded my McAffee virus scan from 4.0 to 6.0. Now I cannot boot to my Windows program. Please help. I have lots of information on my hard drive so I cannot simply loan the recovery disk and risk losing my files.

Try going into safe mode by pressing down on the f5 key, when you are in safe mode uninstall Mcaffee virus scan if this does not work using the recovery disk should not delete your previous files.
