I purchased an 80gb WD hard drive which I added as a slave drive. My maser is a 30gb drive running ME. I'd like to run windows xp on the new drive & eventually upgrade the 30gb drive as well. After I install the OS to the new drive I'll switch it to master.

I have not installed my OS to the new drive yet - I'm using it as storage only. Is there a distinct advantage to buying the full version of XP or can I install ME on the new drive, buy the XP upgrade & immediately upgrade to XP without running in to problems of converting ME after it's been on a machine for a while? This would obviously be the more economical way to go - saving about $100.

Eventually I'd like to reformat my old drive, reinstall ME & upgrade that drive in the same manner.

Thanks for any advice you have
