Why is USB crashing computer?

Whenever I use the USB Ports on the back of my computer, the computer continously crashes. So far I have used a webcam with the USB Ports that crashed everytime I used it, and a Cable Modem through the USB Ports, that crashes during when the computer has finished loading everything. However, if I connect it after loading, it works, sometimes crashing after about a hour.

Do you know the cause of this, and how I could fix it?

Try updateing the driver for the USB or the Webcam.
