What is a scanner

I just got into this about 6months ago. My computer, monitor, and printer are all H.P. I mostly use it for internet surfing,and e-mails. I do have the best photo quality printer that they offered. I want to get into digital photography, and this printer well help me reproduce the photos. I also want to make my owen christmas cards. My Question is ,do you think a scanner would be helpful to me. I know it would be good for making copies of things, but what else could I do with one. I know you must think this is a stupid question, but I am just not sure. Thanks for your Help. I just love your radio show.

I'm into digital photography, well photography as a whole I bought a scanner and I could do so much with it It comes in handy if you need different pictures that you don't have in your computer So invest in a good scanner, you will not regret it.
